Danny Fincher

Harold Daniel ‚ÄúDanny‚ÄĚ Fincher Sr., a resident of Rice, passed away on Dec. 17, 2012 in Colville at the age of 66. He was born on March 8, 1947 in Wendell, Idaho, the son of Harvey Herbert Fincher and Mary LaVerne Gregg Sewell.
As a young boy, Danny lived in Riverton Heights out¬side of Seattle. There he continued his education and en¬tered the Navy. Danny served overseas aboard the U.S.S. En¬terprise in the Pa¬cific Theater during the Vietnam War.
Fol¬lowing his honorable discharge, Danny returned to the Se¬attle area where he met Barb Palmer. He and Barb were mar¬ried on Jan. 13, 1968 in Seattle. Barb had three young boys and to¬gether, she and Danny had a fourth. Danny embraced all of his boys as his own and raised them with a father’s love.
Danny worked several jobs, including auto mechanic, steel worker and with his Dad in the family communications’ busi¬ness before be¬ginning his 24-year career as an industrial painter. He painted large commercial buildings, towers, bridges, and structures throughout Washington and in Alaska. Following the passing of his wife, Barb, Danny moved to East¬ern Washington. There he met Barb Moss. He has shared her company and special friendship for many years.
Danny loved to work on and drive race cars. He raced count¬¨less laps at the Evergreen Speedway figure-eight track and earned the nickname ‚Äúsuper swimmer‚ÄĚ after taking his car for a swim into a trackside pond. Danny also enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing. Additionally, Danny dabbled in painting, sketching, models and woodworking. He had a good work ethic and was loyal to his family and friends. Danny enjoyed helping others and had a good heart, with a ‚Äúrough around the edges‚ÄĚ approach. He will be missed by his family and the many friends he had.
Danny was a member and past officer of the Colville Ea¬gles Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his father; by his wife, Bar¬bara Fincher, and one son, Kenny Fincher.
Danny is survived by his mother, Mary Lavern Sewell, SeaTac; three sons, James Fincher-Kidder and wife, Kris, Kent; David Kidder-Fincher, and wife, Lisa, Redmond; Daniel Fincher Jr., and wife Shannon, Auburn; grandchil¬dren, James, Kristo¬pher, Joshua, Justin and Daniel; siblings, Kathy Johnson and husband, Al, Issaquah; Samuel Sewell and wife, Judy, Larry, Bob, Nancy and Janet Sewell, all of SeaTac; Marcy Sewell, SeaTac; friend and partner, Barb Moss, Rice; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for Mr. Harold Daniel ‚ÄúDanny‚ÄĚ Fincher Sr. will be held at the Colville Eagles Lodge at a later date.
