DeAnne Linn

July 20, 2011

DeAnne Linn, a 35-year resident of Colville, passed away on July 12, 2011 at the age of 69. DeAnne was born on Jan. 28, 1942 in Montpelier, Idaho, the daughter of Mark Alvin and Stena Eunice (Krusell) Dunn.
As a young girl, DeAnne resided with her family in Idaho and Utah, where she began her education. She completed her education after moving to Spokane, where she graduated from Central Valley High School in 1962. DeAnne then worked at a chicken and egg production ranch before beginning her family.
In 1965, she married Arthur Linn and together they had three children, Eric, Jeff and Craig. DeAnne worked in the home, caring for the needs of her family, as well as working as an “in-home” sale representative for Home Interiors. She continued her work with Home Interiors after their family moved to Colville in 1976. DeAnne began working at Mount Carmel Hospital in 1979. She and Arthur divorced in 1981 and she became the sole provider for her three boys. DeAnne worked at Mt. Carmel until 1989 and then worked three jobs in the retail industry to support her young family. In June 1993, DeAnne began work at Hearth and Home, which she enjoyed and continued until her retirement in September 2010. Three months after her retirement, DeAnne began her courageous battle against lung cancer.
Her sons reflected about DeAnne by stating, “Most people hope to meet people like her and we were fortunate enough to have her as a mother.”
She never missed a sporting event, she was a den mother, and she always made sure her boys had what was needed even if it meant working three jobs. When spare time was found, she enjoyed reading, completing crossword puzzles and playing pool at the Colville Eagles Lodge. DeAnne also organized the Eagle’s pool league for 10 years. She loved to shop, which complimented her greater love of Christmas. She often began her Christmas shopping in August and made sure that her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were provided for equally. She took great pride in her appearance and was never afraid to defend her beliefs with a tenacious spirit. Her opinion was only offered when solicited and her love was given unconditionally.
DeAnne is survived by her three sons, Eric Linn and his wife, Bobbi, Jeffrey Linn, Craig Linn and his wife, Kelly, all of Colville; grandchildren, Joshua Linn, Christopher Linn, April Waleczak, Laurie Linn, Alexander Linn, Lexi Linn and Dixi Linn; great-grandchildren, Lelu, Otto and Amya; step-father, Marlin Tate, Deer Park; brothers, Dan Dunn and his wife, DeAnne, Steve Dunn and his wife, Jolene, all of Spokane; sisters, Carol Dorigatti and her husband, Dale, Blackfoot, Idaho; Patsy Lowden and her husband, James, Chewelah; Jeri Johnson and her husband, James, Spokane; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will begin at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 23 at the Danekas Funeral Chapel in Colville.
Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society.
