Dixie Jo Strobbe

Dixie Jo Strobbe, a 16 year resident of Kettle Falls, passed away on March 23, 2013 at her home. Dixie was born on June 21, 1927 in Bicknell, Indiana the daughter of Floyd Adam and Dorothy Pearl (Taylor) Wineinger.
She grew up in Bloomington, Indiana. Later she relocated to San Diego, CA where she raised her family of five children. Dixie attended Southwestern School of Cosmetology and worked several years as a hair stylist. She returned to college and received a floral design degree from Cuyameca College in Rancho San Diego. The rest of her career was spent as a floral designer and florist.
After retiring in 1996, she relocated to Kettle Falls. Dixie met Raymond Strobbe; they fell in love and eloped to Coeur d’Alene, ID. She and Ray were happily married and had eleven wonderful years together before his passing in 2008.
Dixie was dedicated to her family and those she loved. Her compassion and perseverance through life were shining examples for her family, as was her faith filled walk with Jesus. She treasured her family and she was their shining jewel and rock.
Dixie is survived by her daughter, Susan Leukhardt and husband, Eric Hangartner, Ramona, CA; sons, Dennis “Buzz” East and wife, Susan, Kettle Falls, WA, Daniel F. East and wife, Pam Slott, Orient, Allan East and wife, Mary, El Cajon, CA, David Silvera and wife, Charlene, Shasta Lake, CA; grandchildren, Dixie Marie, Walter, Angela, Jason, Teresa, Jarod Benjamin, Evan, Jacob, Thomas, Matthew, Daniel, Anna, Deborah, Ativa, Penny, Buzzy, Babbette, Adam, Allan Ray II, Aaron, Mary Ariel, Abigail, Anthony, Joella, Bryan, Ricky, Johnny, Tye, Tarryn; 33 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will begin at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 30 at the Danekas Funeral Chapel in Colville. A graveside service and will follow at the Meyers Falls Cemetery in Kettle Falls. Please visit the on-line memorial and sign the guestbook at www.danekasfuneralchapel.com.
