Doggen and Little finished fifth in doubles at last year’s tournament in Yakima.
While the veteran CHS seniors qualified for State once again, Colville’s top singles player, junior Tessa Moore (seeded no. 1 to the regional), and Colville’s doubles team of senior Carly Ekins and junior Alyssa Kienbaum didn’t advance out of the regional.
Doggen and Little eased past Hansen and Baye of Reardan in their opening round match, 6-0, 6-1, before beating Chewelah’s Kenney/Kofmehl, 6-1, 1-6, 6-1.
In the regional title match-up, the CHS duo was pitted against their Lakeside rivals, March and Aguirre. Doggen and Little have played some spirited and competitive matches with their fellow NEA rivals this spring. The regional match-up was no different.
Little and Doggen dropped the first set 5-7 before rebounding for 7-5, 6-1 wins and the match.
“It was an exciting day for the girls,” said CHS coach Phil Johnson. “Liselotte and Erin had to work hard to earn that regional championship and top seed to the state tournament.”

In her third match, Moore fell to Lind-Ritzville/Sprague’s Tracy Melville, 2-6, 0-6.
Colville’s Ekins and Kienbaum opened with a 3-6, 6-3, 7-5 win over Lind-Ritzville/Sprague’s Melville/Heidenrich before losing to March/Aguirre of Lakeside, 0-6, 0-6 and to Hall/Webster of Reardan, 3-6, 5-7.
