Donna Olson

Donna Lea Olson passed away in Colville on Dec. 27, 2012 at the age of 81. She was born the daughter of Roy Kenneth and Velma Irene (Logsdon) Boyle on June 11, 1931 in Nebo, Illinois. Donna was a Colville High School graduate, Class of 1949.
After graduation, Donna met John Olson on a blind date and the two were married on June 18, 1950. She went to work for Bell Telephone shortly after she was married and worked for the telephone company for almost 15 years. After leaving Bell Telephone, Donna worked for the Department of Natural Resources for 10 years and then the United States Forest Service until her retirement at the age of 62.
In Donna’s spare time, she enjoyed reading, crocheting, traveling, but most of all, spending time with her family. She was also an active member of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary and the Rebekah Lodge. Donna will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Donna was preceded in death by her husband, John in 2009; by her sisters, Wanda Mifflin, Sherlyn Campbell, and grandson John “Hooter” Stewart.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen Stewart, San Ramon, CA; son, John Olson and wife Linda, Colville; brother, Bill Boyle, Addy; grandchildren P.J. Stewart, Tricia Robertson, Tammy Stewart, Les Stewart, Heidi Samson, Aaron Olson, Erik Olson, and Kyle Olson; great-grandchildren Alexander, Karlie, Chloe, Connor, Cameron, Hailey, William and beloved cat “Bootsie”.
Funeral service for Donna was held at Danekas Funeral Chapel in Colville on Jan. 3, 2013, followed by a vault interment at Highland Cemetery.
If one so wishes, memorial contributions can be made in Donna’s name to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.
