Ellen Ann Richart, a longtime resident of Kettle Falls, passed away on Feb. 22, 2013. Ellen was born to Charles Tetzlaff and Emily Duga, on August 18, 1944 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
She grew up in Milwaukee, WI and graduated from high school there. Even though Ellen grew up in the city, she was meant to be a country girl. She achieved that when she moved to the Kettle Falls (Kelly Hill) area in 1982. She met Frank Richart and they were married in 1990 in Coeur d’Alene, ID.
Frank and Ellen raised quarter horses for years together. Ellen also enjoyed tending to her garden. It seems like she spent hours in it every day. She always had a very large garden that she took pride in. Ellen also loved to help Frank around the ranch.
She loved animals and you could see that with all the attention she gave to her horses, cats and dogs. Ellen enjoyed taking her horses to the Quarter Horse Show and sales. There she would show people how good she was with horses. It almost seemed like she was a natural at it and was very easy for her to teach them.
Ellen also had a great love for the Green Bay Packers football team and she loved showing her pride by wearing her Packers’ hat, along with her team sweatshirt. Ellen loved to go fishing at Pierre Lake the last couple of years.
A memorial potluck for Ellen will be held at the Kettle River Grange on Saturday, March 9 at 11 a.m.
