Eva Peterson

Eva Viola “Vi” Peterson, a longtime resident of Colville, passed away in Clarkston on April 22, 2014 at the age of 98. Vi was born on Dec. 17, 1915 in Colville, the daughter of Daniel and Rosa (Dixon) Brown.
Vi was raised in Colville where she finished the eleventh grade. On Nov. 1, 1933 she married Carl Peterson and together they made their home in Colville. Throughout the years, Eva filled many positions at several local businesses. She worked as a waitress and cook for King Cole’s, Newland’s Café, and Smiths. For several years, she was a manager at the A&W Drive-In. Vi also worked as a checker at Safeway and was a custodian for the Forest Service. In 1992, Carl passed away and Vi stayed in Colville until 2007, when she moved to Clarkston to be closer to family.
Vi spent as much time as she could with her young children. They spent many hours fishing in Mill Creek and were involved in numerous other outdoor activities. She also enjoyed working in her yard and nurturing her flowers.
Vi was very concerned about her children. Whenever they would leave on a trip somewhere, she would check in to make sure they were okay. She was very caring, both to her family and friends. Vi was deeply loved and she will be forever cherished in the hearts of those that were touched by her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; her parents, Daniel and Rosa Brown; brothers, Leonard Brown, Stewart Brown and Amos Brown; daughter, Janice Peterson
Vi is survived by her, daughter, Joanne Gilbert and husband, Jerry, Clarkston; son Ron Peterson and wife, Marilyn, Vancouver; grandchildren, Janice, Sheryl, JayeLynn, Carl; great-grandchildren, Breanne, Bryce, Devin, Tyler, Alex, Anders, Aaron, Jennifer, Summer Grace; great-great-grand-daughter, Paige.
A graveside service for Mrs. Peterson will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 3 at Mountain View Park Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be given to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Colville.
