Fire precaution level rises for workers in northeast Washington

The Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) announced on August 23 the following changes in the fire danger rating and burn restrictions on DNR-protected lands:

Effective as of 12:01 a.m. August 24, 2016:

Fire danger will increase from moderate to high in Stevens (outside Fire Districts 1 and 2), Ferry and Pend Oreille counties.

Fire danger will increase from high, to very high in Spokane, Okanogan and Lincoln counties.

Industrial Fire Precaution Levels will increase to Level II in zones 678W and 686.

All campfires, debris burning and other outdoor burning continue to be prohibited on DNR-protected lands.
