FRANCES C. “TOOTS” KAUFMAN

Fran was born to Charles and Golda Mae (Town) Flugel in Colville Washington and has resided in Puyallup since October 2001. Until two weeks ago, Fran lived independently, driving, cooking and traveling with friends. Fran graduated from Colville High and married Leonard A. Kaufman on July 1, 1939, in Colville.
After their wedding they moved to Grand Coulee where two of their children were born. They then moved to Tacoma where their third child was born. The family moved to McKenna where Fran became the post mistress and ran the general store. When Leonard retired, time was split between lake Thomas, near Colville in the summer and Yuma, Arizona in the winter. In 2001, they moved to Puyallup to Canyon Terrace where Fran enjoyed cooking, reading, playing cards and taking day trips with her friends.
Family includes: June Francis (Bernie), Don Kaufman (Dina), Carol Bisceglia (Jim), eight granddaughters, twelve great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. Fran was predeceased by her husband Leonard and her brother Bud Flugel.
Services will be held Thursday, August 22, at 2:00 P.M. at Powers Funeral Home at 320 West Pioneer, Puyallup, WA. 98371. A celebration of Fran’s life will be held at the Canyon Terrace clubhouse at 9314 Canyon Rd. E., Puyallup, WA. 98371 at 3:00 P.M. following the service. Internment will be next to her husband at the Colville Cemetery, the next day on Friday at 3:00 P.M..
