Give a shout out to a soldier
As everyone gets caught up in the holiday fervor, it’s important to remember our men and women in the Armed Forces who are sacrificing more than the usual luxuries that are associated with this season. In an effort to provide a link between United States soldiers and their loved ones at home, the Statesman-Examiner is inviting the public to post a video message to a family member or friend in the military on the S-E website, www.statesmanexaminer.com. For those doing their own digital film-making, the video must be a PC file WMV or Mac file MOV. The videos should be emailed to Comp1@statesmanexaminer.com. Participants can also come into the S-E Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and have their message filmed via the S-E’s own digital recorder. Ask for Sophia Aldous or Jaymi Allenbaugh. “During the holidays and into next year, we encourage people who want to reach out to our military men and women, who may not be able to join their families and friends for the season, to post a video on our website,” says S-E Managing Editor Chris Cowbrough. “In return, if a person in the Armed Forces would like to email us a video with a message to someone at home, we will gladly post those as well. We’re hoping that this is something that our community will take advantage of.” There is no cost to place a video message on the website. For more information, or to schedule a video message, call (509) 684-4567. Requirements for posting a video are that the sender uses at least their first name and the first name of the person the message is intended for. Offensive material and profanity is prohibited. The S-E reserves the right to reject any submission it deems objectionable. Videos will be posted at the S-E’S discretion.
