Gonzaga Prep easily win’s Colville Invitational

Gonzaga Prep easily captured the Colville Invitational Golf Tournament last Thursday at Dominion Meadows Golf Course.
The Bullpups, playing in an eight-team men’s field, totaled 311 (four scoring players). G-Prep was led by Michael Brutocao’s two-over 74 and by Ryan Anderson’s three-over-par 75. Andrew Durnford added a 78.
Host Colville High, led by the 76 from junior Sam Artzis, finished tied for fifth place at 366 with East Valley.
Other Colville scores: Duncan Maben, 86; Matt Hubbard, 94; Zach Jensen, 110.
CHS coach Tim Gray was excited about his team’s finish and the improvement in scores from the season’s first match at Clarkston last month.

Much improved

“Our scores were much improved over the first event,” Gray said. “It was great to see Sam’s (Artzis) tournament best round and a strong score from Duncan (Maben). It is also good to have Matt back on the team (Hubbard).”
1st, Gonzaga Prep, 311. 2nd, Mt. Spokane, 334. 3rd, Mead, 341. 4th, North Central, 355. 5th (tie). Colville, 366. 5th. East Valley, 366. 7th. Chewelah, 390. 8th. Kettle Falls, 418.
The CHS girls were one of two girl’s teams in the field. The Indians, led by Abby Lembcke’s 100, fired a team total of 434. Becky Lane added a 104, Lindsay Green shot a 112 and Ashlee Beers carded a 118.
Chewelah totaled 441. The Cougars were led by Jennah Earl’s 108. Hannah Johnson and Morgan Farrington both carded 109’s. Bradleigh Earl had a 115.
Chewelah’s boys finished seventh. The Cougars were led by Ryan Long’s 77. Nic Grimm added a 94 and Jamie Olson carded a 101. Will Roach finished at 118.
Kettle Falls was led by Josh Dugger’s 83. Brett Boese added a 97, Rylee Hallenius carded a 115 and David Ghramm added a 123.
