Ina Irene King, a 48-year resident of Rice, passed away on Sept. 23, 2013 at the age of 91 in Colville. Ina was born on July 10, 1922 in Alamo, NV, the daughter of Joseph and Edna Irene (Cutler) Cox. Ina was raised and attended school in Alamo. There she graduated from high school in 1941. She then moved to Salt Lake City to attend Heneger Business School. While attending business school, she met James “Jim” King. On July 15, 1942 Ina and Jim were wed in Alamo. She continued and completed her education at Heneger through correspondence. Ina and James moved to Pioche, NV, where Ina began working for the Farm Security Administration. She and Jim moved to Long Beach, CA, where Jim worked in the shipyard and they began their family. It wasn’t long before they returned to Pioche. As their family grew, Jim and Ina moved with the work opportunities. They resided in several communities, including Bristol, NV, Apple Valley, Id, Moab, UT, Dragerton, UT, Silver City, NM and in 1965 they moved to Rice. Ina gave great attention to her work as a homemaker and also assisted with the needs of their dairy farm in Rice. She and Jim turned the dairy farm over to their son, Steve, in 1998. They then began a much-earned retirement filled with family, friends and their faith community. Ina cared for her family with immeasurable support and unending compassion. She was one who always looked for the good in others and spoke in positive reflection of others. Yet, her family laughing reminisced, “But, you did not want to get her mad.” Ina was also a wonderful musician who could play the piano, organ, trumpet and French horn.
