It’s been awhile since Kettle Falls was 4-1

Connor McKern goes baseline against Tonasket.

Bulldogs lose
first to Tonasket

A vastly improved Kettle Falls High boy’s basketball team suffered its first loss of the season last Saturday when visiting Tonasket of the Caribou-Trail League rolled to an early lead en route to a 62-47 win.
The loss was Kettle’s first in five games.
The Bulldogs (4-1) won two of three non-league games during the week, downing Springdale 46-35 back on Dec. 4 behind Connor McKern’s 10 points and blasting visiting Curlew (2-3) 61-33 on Dec. 6.
After leading only 8-6 after one quarter against Springdale (0-4), Kettle Falls used defensive pressure to exact a second quarter toll on the Chargers. In their most productive quarter of the season to date, KFHS outscored Springdale 23-6 in the second quarter.

Easy win

The Chargers, on the strength of a 15-5 third quarter run, outscored KFHS in the second half, but it was too little, too late.
The Bulldogs were able to turn Curlew over regularly in an easy win that saw the hosts roll to a 19-10 first quarter lead and outscore the Panorama League North team 34-15 in the second half.
Guard Nick Reppert led four KFHS players in double figures with 18 points.
In the loss to Tonasket, McKern led all scorers with 19 points.
Kettle Falls head coach Steve Kroiss was unavailable for comment.
