James Day

March 6, 2012

Jim Day passed away on February 28, 2012 at the Veteran’s Hospital Hospice Care Unit after a short battle with lung cancer.
Jim was born Feb. 25, 1940 in Colville. He was the son of James E. and Gladys A Day. He grew up in Northport and in 1960 joined the U.S. Navy. He was discharged in 1964.
He worked as a log truck driver for several local loggers, and was also part owner of Day Brothers Logging for a few years.
Jim lived in Arden 38 years and married Linda Hummel in 1978. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, car racing, airplanes, and spending time with his coffee friends. He was always ready for a weekend drive or four-wheeling in the mountains.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and by a brother, Clifford Day.
Jim is survived by his wife, Linda (34 years); son, Jimmy Day, Spokane; daughter, Lindsay Smith and husband, Russ, Missoula, MT; two brothers, Jerry Day, Colville; and Ernie Day, Rathdrum, Idaho; two sisters, Karen McDonald, West Hills, CA; and Janet Johnson, Spokane Valley; along with several nieces and nephews.
We invite you to celebrate Jim’s life with a potluck lunch on March 10, 2 p.m. at the Arden Community Hall (with favorite memories to follow).
Memorial contributions may be given to any Veteran’s organization or to Relay For Life.
