James “Jim” Clifford Brown, a longtime resident of Kettle Falls, passed away on Dec. 7, 2013, at the age of 65 in the log home he built and loved. Jim was born on July 15, 1948 in Spokane, the son of Clifford and Bonnie (McCoul) Brown.
Jim spent his early years growing up in Spokane and then moved to Kettle Falls in his sophomore year in high school. He loved sports and was very active in all. Football was his favorite.
He married Susan Ayre in 1966 and they spent the first years of marriage living in Kettle Falls and Spokane, but because of their love of Kettle Falls, this is where they made their final home.
Jim was an avid car enthusiast and spent his time working in his shop, restoring classic cars. He dedicated many years as part of the Cruisers Car Club and going to car shows with his many friends. Jim had a special interest for 1950’s Mercury’s, but his favorite, as many people knew, was his green 1972 Chevy pickup.
Jim’s grandchildren were a very special part of his life. He loved having them around and was always teasing and playing with them. He will never be forgotten in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Brown, Kettle Falls; daughters, Stacey Brown, Spokane Valley; Jennifer Thompson and husband, Mick, Kettle Falls; son, Jesse Brown and wife, Sara, Kettle Falls; grandchildren, Devin, Travis, Matthew, Caleb, Jocelyn; sister, Sandy Clarke, Redding, CA; Sharon Stoddard and husband, Tony, Cheney.
