Joan “Mickey” Egland

Joan Egland passed away July 23, 2013 at the age of 77. She was born Sept. 28, 1935 to Albert (AP) and Elna Arlt in Ritzville, WA.
Joan graduated from Chewelah High School (Jenkins) in 1954. She then met and wed Wallace in 1955. Joan loved spending time with her grandchildren and having long conver¬sations with them as she was cooking, as they tried sneaking into the grandma’s candy drawer. She also enjoyed shopping, several different kinds of crafts, knitting, and diet Coke, her cats and dogs.
Joan also had a love for working in her yard that was like a park-like setting. It was filled with flowers and a small pond.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Wallace Egland; her sister, Cherie McCanna; her son, Keith Egland; her daugh¬ter, Carrie Keener and husband Paul; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on Joan’s birthday, Sept. 28. There will be details to follow.
