Kenneth Morton Eberhard

Kenneth Morton Eberhard was born October 8, 1922. He passed away August 14, 2011. Ken was born in Boston, MA to Walter and Margaret Eberhard. While attending MIT in Cambridge, MA, he joined the United States Army and proudly served as a Second Lieutenant during WWII. Once the war ended, he returned to MIT and obtained his civil engineering degree in 1947. He then went on to earn his teaching certificate at the University of Washington. Ken enjoyed hiking, skiing, golfing, playing tennis, but most of all, traveling the world, so much so, that after he earned his teaching certificate, Ken accepted a position in an American school in Germany, where he later met his first wife and mother of his children, Hildegard Gisela Stein. Several years after moving back to the United States, they divorced and he moved to Colville, where he raised his two daughters. In 1975 he married Monica Kilgallon. They spent many happy years together, traveling, dancing, playing games and spending time with both his and her families and friends. Ken was preceded in death by his wife Monica in 2006. He is survived by his brother, Sid (Elly) Eberhard, Sun City, FL; sister, Jean (Bob) Hughes, Duxbury, MA; and all his “girls” and their husbands, including daughters Katharine (Fred) Bonallo, Edmonds; and Lorraine (John) Barnes, Chazy, NY; grand-daughters, Kitel, Ashley, Heidi, JoAnne and Kenna; and great-grand-daughters, Anyka and Evelyn. He is also survived by his wife’s much-loved children, Sharon, Leslie, Steve and Roy, and by their spouses and many children and great-grandchildren. Ken was a man of few words, but when spoken, his words were always honest and true. Love was not a word spoken, but was shown in many ways. He will live in the hearts of those he held dear. A time of remembrance will be held for family and friends at a later date. Donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation. Please share memories at
