Lewis Boerste

Lewis Alden Boerste passed away at his home in Colville on June 20, 2012 at the age of 78. He was born on June 22, 1933, the son of Frank and Wilma (Buswell) Boerste in Ryderwood.
Lewis grew up in Cougar and attended high school in Woodland. Lewis joined the United States Air Force at age 17 in 1951, and served our country in the Korean War. He retired from the Air Force after 10 years of service.
On June 18, 1960, Lewis married Lea Cubbison in Woodland. A short time later, he again joined the military and served in the Vietnam War with the Navy Sea Bees. He retired from the Navy in 1972, and worked as an electrician to support his family thereafter.
Lewis and his family moved to Colville in 1977.
Lewis is survived by his wife, Lea Boerste, at the home; his children, Moura (Joe Roberts) Adams, La Center; Lulu (Curt) Anderson, Chewelah; Nora (Todd) Fritz, Colville; Ted Boerste, Colville; 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; sisters, Joanne (Lyle) Bozarth, Port Angeles; Rosemary Gibson, Spokane; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Boerste; by his mother, Wilma Buswell; siblings, Bud Boerste, Bob Boerste, Jim Boerste, Edna Boerste, Patty Cates, and Elizabeth Effinger.
At Mr. Boerste’s request, there will be no funeral or visitations.
