Margaret “Peggy” Jean Kondrath

Margaret “Peggy” Jean (Crooks) Kondrath, a long-time resident of Colville, passed away on May 14, 2014 in Colville. Peggy was born on October 7, 1927 in Peoria, Illinois, the daughter of Edward and Minnie (Johnson) Osborne.
Peggy graduated from Long Beach High School in 1943. After graduation, with her great talent of singing, she went on tour with Bob Hope for the USO shows for several years. As the wife of a military man who served our great country for 30-years, Peggy moved her family all over the world. All seven of her chil¬dren were born in different states and countries. As the mother of seven, she stayed very involved in their sporting activities. She served as the scorekeeper and provided food and drinks for countless baseball and softball games. She also served as a Girl Scout leader for several of her daughter’s troops.
For a few years Peggy worked as an executive assistant for a large corporation, as well as working for several radio stations, including KCVL. She never gave up her love of singing and toured with the San Jose Philharmonic Choir and was privileged to travel to Ireland, Australia and England. She also sang and performed at many NCO club functions for 30 years.
Peggy is survived by her daughter, Billie Jean Cole of Arlington, TX; son, Clifford Crooks and wife, Pam, Kennewick; daughters, Janie Deubel and husband, Marty, of Colville; Melissa Lickfold and husband, Kelly, of Omak; Cheryl MacKelvie and husband, Randy, of Sacramento, CA; Sharon Reeves and hus¬band, Don, of Scotts Valley, CA; Opal Crooks of Morgan Hill, CA; 18 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; four great great-grandchildren; two brothers, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for Mrs. Kondrath will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 31 at the Church of God reception hall in Colville. Memorial contributions may be given to the special care unit at Pinewood Terrace Nursing Center.
