Mary Ann Dolman, a 17-year resident of Kettle Falls, passed away on Oct. 17, 2011 in Colville at the age of 78. She was born on Sept. 7, 1933 in Downers Grove, Il, the daughter of Philip and Olga (Schaefer) May.
Mary was raised and attended school in Illinois, and attended the Beauty School of Culture in Chicago. She married the love of her life, Wayne Dolman, Sr. in 1953, and they made their home in the towns of Naperville and Oswego, IL. Mary loved being a beautician for 41 years, especially her employment at Charles A. Stevens and Company in LaGrange, IL from 1962 until 1988. She and Wayne moved to Kettle Falls in 1994, and they built their retirement home along the Columbia River in 1995 and 1996.
Mary was a naturalist at heart and used things from nature before being “organic” was popular. She had a huge heart and loved to care for people and animals. She fed the wild deer and turkeys around her home, and always loved to take care of the elderly. She loved to bake and cook for her family and friends, and for several years she made her own huckleberry liqueurs. Mary was also strong willed, nature-loving, qualities that her family will miss.
Mary is survived by her husband, Wayne Dolman, Sr., Kettle Falls; her daughters, Donna (David) Marten, Chewelah; and Debbie (William) Barrett, Poulsbo; her son, Wayne Dolman, Jr., Kettle Falls; her grandchildren, Jonathan Bruce, Alexis Bruce-Scates, Sydney Wilson and Ty Dolman; her sisters, Vivian (Don) Hudgins, Myrtle Creek, OR, and Vera Neilly of Myrtle Creek, OR; as well as many nieces and nephews.
The graveside service was held at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, October 20, 2011 at the Republic Cemetery in Republic. The Danekas Funeral Chapel and Crematory in Colville is entrusted with arrangements.
