May Brittain

May Wilma Brittain, a longtime Kettle Falls resident, passed away on Sept. 10, 2013 in Colville. She was born on Dec. 6, 1924 in Springfield, OR, the daughter of Ora Lee and Alma Ana (Fischer) Richardson.
May grew up at Diamond Lake and attended school in Newport. She married Marvin Brittain on Feb. 7, 1941 and spent the next 52 years together until Marvin’s passing.
In May’s spare time, she enjoyed woodworking, making beautiful figurines out of wood as well as making furniture, and spending time with family. She also enjoyed reading the local newspapers, trying to keep up on the latest news and events in her community.
May was preceded in death by her loving husband, Marvin, and by her son, Melvin.
She is survived by her daughter, Marie Simmons, Kettle Falls; son, Michael Brittain, Chewelah, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of May’s life will be held at a later date.
If one so wishes, memorial contributions can be made in May’s name to The American Cancer Society or to the Muscular Dystrophy Foundation.
