Paul “Tom” Wiltse

Paul “Tom” Wiltse, a longtime resident of Stevens County, passed away unexpectedly on Dec. 28, 2013 at the age of 78. Tom was born on April 15, 1935 to Paul Albert and Helen Wiltse of Pierce County.
In 1953, tom married the love of his life, Claudia Battle. Together they had four children and lived in Orting. Tom was a lifelong member of the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, Rendezvous, rodeos, estate sales and auctions.
In 1985 the Wiltse’s moved to Stevens County and bought a home at Evans. Tom began his logging career in Northeast Washington and retired in 2002 from Wiltse and Son Logging (started in 1993 with his youngest son).
Tom was preceded in death by his parents; by a brother, Jack; sister, Audrey, and sister-in-law Mary Lou.
He is survived by Claudia, his wife of 60 years; oldest son Lonny and his wife, Cheryl; son, Spencer and his wife, Joyce; youngest son, Kevin and wife, Debi; daughter, Charlotte and her husband, Mike; two dogs, Brutus and Paco. Tom also had four grandsons, six-grand-daughters and six great-grandchildren.
Tom was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
The family is honoring Tom’s wishes. There will be no funeral service at this time, but a celebration of his life may follow at a later date this summer.
