Robert Emmett McNamee, 91, entered into eternal rest, November 28, 2012 at Mt. Carmel Hospital with family at his bedside. Emmett was born on March 22, 1921 in Colville to John Joseph & Edna Leona (Shepherdson) McNamee.
Emmett was proud to have served his country, marching across Italy into Normandy during World War II. While loading onto a transport ship headed to the Pacific, the Captain of the ship announced the Japanese had surrendered and the war was over. He then returned home to his wife Adeline Maul McNamee, and together were blessed with children, Elizabeth, Ronald, William, Tom and Clyde. Adeline was killed in an automobile accident May 1, 1954. Emmett celebrated his second marriage to Helen Patberg in 1966. The birth of Stacy Ann was celebrated the following year.
Emmett began his logging career as a young man and has mentored many men as they learned to love working in the woods of Stevens County. He retired from actively working in the woods at age eighty. His second love was raising and riding quarter horses. He loved The Old Timers Rodeo, which he atÂŹtended until last year.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Margaret, Mary; brothers, Clyde, Joe, Michael, Steven, Larry and Gene.
Emmett is survived by his six children Elizabeth âLizâ Simmons and husband, Ken of Port Orchard; Sons, Ronald McNamee and wife, Joyce of Colbert, William McNamee and friend Candy of Spokane, Tom McNamee and wife, Betty Jo of Chattaroy, Clyde McNamee and wife, Laura of Evans; Daughter, Stacy Ann McNamee Reese and husband, Sherman of Deer Park; his constant and devoted companion Dolorus Pratt; grandchilÂŹdren, great grandchildren and many children who knew him as grandpa, and numerous nieces and nephews who also looked to Emmett as their grandpa.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 5 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Colville with the burial to follow at Highland Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given to the Arden Old Timers Rodeo, C/O Otto Ward, 789 D. Tip N.E. Rd. Colville, WA. 99114.
