The tournament serves as a tribute to two great men, John Ochs and Steve Cox.
The format for this event is a scramble with four or five perÂson teams. Entry fee is $45 per player, if paid by July 24, and $50 per player after July 24.
The entry fee includes golf, dinner and a day full of fun. Non-golfers are able to purÂchase dinner for $10 and are invited to participate in the live and silent auctions.
Check in starts at 9 a.m. and the tournament begins at 10 a.m. Pick pick up entry forms at Just Rip It Pro Shop. For more registration information, contact Sandi Armes at 680-2450 or Marilee Floener at 690-2827.
This year’s tournament once again has Buxton Financial Services sponsor a hole-in-one contest. Each par 3 hole played will have a special prize. Hole number 16 will have a $5,000 cash prize for a hole-in-one. The closest-to-the-pin winners on each of the par 3 holes will qualify to play in a final shootout, with the opportunity to win $50,000 on Saturday, Sept. 21. Additionally, the live auction will include the opportunity to be one of the 20 people vying for the possible $50,000.
Thanks to the support of a number of businesses in the area, an auction is held after dinner that offers both live and silent auction items. The live auction will start around 4:30 p.m. Some of the items to be offered include a signed Alabama football helmet from the 2011 National Championship Team, golf packages, ski tickets, concert tickets and hotel stays. There are also many worthwhile items to bid on during the silent auction.
Funds raised from this tournament and the auction help support local youth in many ways. The goal is “No child will be left out if the Opie/Coxie Memorial Fund can do anything about it!”
All proceeds from this tournament will be used entirely to support youth in the local communities that may not otherwise be able to participate in sports, education endeavors, science fairs, and other activities without this assistance.
