Town and Country Days coming up!
It will be Town and Country Days (TACD) time again May 31 through June 2 in Kettle Falls. Festivities will kick off the afternoon of Friday, May 31, with vendors up and running by noon. The annual Grumpy Grouch Fun Run returns, beginning Friday, May 31 at 7 p.m. The run will start and end at the Kettle Falls City Park, next to the swimming pool. The entry fee for the Fun Run is $10, and participants will receive a t-shirt. Entry forms are available online at www.kettle-falls.com, Kettle Falls City Hall and at AIA Insurance in Kettle Falls. Town and Country Days parade begins Saturday, June 1 at 11 a.m. Those wishing to register for the parade can download forms at www.kettle-falls.com or pick one up at AIA Insurance in Kettle Falls. The Slam Jam three-on-three basketball tournament will take place Saturday, June 1 starting at 8 a.m. Entry forms are located at local businesses in Colville (Clark’s All-Sports) and in Kettle Falls, or can be printed off at www.kettle-falls.com. The announcement of the Weatherman Award will follow at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Weatherman Award is bestowed to a community member nominated for outstanding community achievement. The Kettle Falls Grouch will also be announced at 2:30 p.m. Individuals can vote for their favorite Grouch candidate at local Kettle Falls businesses. It’s 25 cents a vote and all money goes toward Kettle Falls' community projects. This year’s Town Grouch nominees are Leona Delp, owner of Sandy’s Drive-In; Adam Jesse, volunteer for the Kettle Falls Community Chest; Sharon Holland of Whitty’s Chevron in Kettle Falls, and Dan Aldous of Aslin-Finch in Kettle Falls. The Show and Shine car show begins at 8 a.m. on Saturday, and will feature everything from classic vintage cars to motorcycles, trucks and tractors. Registration fee is $10. “There will also be plenty of food and merchandise vendors for people to look at and get something good to eat, along with all our local restaurants geared up for the weekend,” says Event Co-chair Dawn Marie Daniels. Saturday will also see live performances from local Bluegrass bands, as well as Rock and Roll and Alternative music.
