The Panorama 1B focus turns to Kettle Falls Print E-mail

After opening round games in the Panorama 1B League basketball tournament Wednesday and Thursday, the boy’s and girls tournaments will move to Kettle Falls on Saturday for championship and seeding games to the District tournament next week.
In the final regular season 1B game of the season on Monday in Northport, Inchelium’s Brandon Kohler scored 16 points and pulled down 10 rebounds.  Teammate Tony Louie dumped in 13 points and pulled down nine rebounds in the Hornets 52-42 win. 
Chad Rosenbaum pulled down 20 rebounds for Inchelium (11-4, 14-5).
Northport (5-10, 6-12) was led by Rafael Brandao’s 10 points. 
On the girl’s side Monday, Shaynne Wilson scored 22 points to lead Northport (4-14, 3-12) to a 47-31 win over Inchelium (1-18, 1-14).  It was the final regular season game for both schools.
Anissa Jerred scored 15 points for the Hornets.

Final weekend

In the final weekend of Panorama League play, Wellpinit (17-2, 14-0) held off St. George’s in a Southern division battle of league leaders on Saturday night in Spo­kane.
Wellpinit saw St. George’s (11-3, 15-5) Jordan Dickson hit a late three-pointer, but it wasn’t enough and the Redskins escaped, 63-61.
Dickson finished with 26 ponts.
Cody Flett led Wellpinit with 20 points.
Matt Owings led Northport (5-9, 6-11) with 15 points in a 64-53 win at home over Curlew (0-15, 1-17).
Justin Wilson scored 20 points to lead Republic (7-8, 5-11) to a 62-40 win at home Saturday night over Columbia (3-12, 3-17).
Dominic Marquez led the Lions with 19 points.
Chad Rosenbaum scored 28 points and pulled down 16 rebounds to lead Inchelium to a 61-53 home win Saturday over Selkirk (9-6, 13-7).
Also on Saturday, Cusick (11-3, 15-5) got five players in double figures in a 71-43 mauling of St. Michaels (2-12, 2-13).
On Friday, Wellpinit trailed Cusick by 12 points heading into the fourth quarter, but a trio of three-pointers by sharp-shooter Cody Flett helped the Redskins to a 70-61 win in Cusick.
Wellpinit closed the game on a 32-11 run.
Jordan Dickson scored 37 points to lead St. George’s to a 72-47 win at Springdale.  He nailed seven three-pointers.
Northport outscored Columbia 53-34 on Friday night behind Matt Owings’ 16 points.

Big night for Louie

Selkirk got 12 points and 12 rebounds from Hunter Enyeart in a 59-48 win in Pend Oreille County on Friday night. 
Tony Louie dumped in 30 points to lead Inchelium to a 77-52 win at Curlew. 
In action last Tuesday night, Clay Anderson scored 15 points to lead Republic to a 48-40 win at Curlew.
Tyler Edwards dumped in 21 points to lead Cusick to a 59-36 win over Selkirk. 
Springdale ran past St. Michael’s 90-85 in overtime behind Tomaz Symonowiez’s 23 points. Rodney Abrahamson added 17 more for the Charg­ers, including a bucket at the buzzer to send the game into overtime.
Michael Ochoa scored 25 and Gabe Durazo added 20 for the host Warriors.
In girl’s action last Tuesday night, Republic out-ran neighbor and rival Curlew 47-37 behind Tori Orestad’s 16 points.
Katie Jo Torzewski led Cur­lew with 22 points.
On Saturday night, third-ranked Columbia (14-1, 17-3) got a combined 28 points from their post tandem of Julie Ann Larew and Lindsay Loe in a 51-47 win in Republic.
Tori Orestad led Republic (15-4, 12-3) with 15 points.
Columbia lost only to 2B St. George’s during the league season.
Selkirk (8-12, 7-9) outscored Inchelium 38-20 in the second half en route to an easy 79-41 win over the Hornets (1-17, 1-13). 
Courtney Holter led the winners with 21 points.
Curlew (9-9, 7-8) got 13 points from Larissa Miller in a 46-23 win at Northport Saturday.
St. George’s got 19 points from prep golf phenom Chessey Thomas in a 44-36 win over Wellpinit (7-11, 6-8).
The Dragons (18-2, 13-1) used a big second half run to pick up the home win.
Cusick (7-11, 6-8) downed St. Michaels 47-35 behind Jamie Adams’ 20 points.
Marianne Raynor led the Warriors (0-15, 0-14) with 23 points.
With first place in the Pano­rama South at stake, St. George’s downed Springdale (17-3, 11-3) 41-25 on Friday night in Springdale.
Chessey Thomas led St. Geo with 17 points.
St. George’s opened the game on an 18-3 run.
Krista Colvin led Columbia with 15 points in a 70-18 mauling of Northport on Friday night in Hunters.
In a battle of reservation teams, Cusick beat Wellpinit 59-51 in Pend Oreille County. 
Republic got 14 points from Alyssa Stout in a 45-39 win over Selkirk.
Larissa Miller scored 14 points on Friday night to lead Curlew to a 60-32 win over Inchelium.
THE TOURNAMENT
On Wednesday, the Panorama 1B Tournament will get underway with Northport at Wellpinit and Cusick at Inchelium.  Both games will start at 6 p.m.
On Thursday, the 1B girl’s tourney starts with Curlew at Wellpinit and Cusick at Columbia.  Both games will start at 6 p.m.
The venue moves to Kettle Falls High and Middle School on Saturday.
In boy’s game no. 3, Columbia will play St. Michaels at noon in the high school gym.  The winner will be the no. 5 seed to the District 7 1B Tournament. The loser is out.
In girl’s game no. 3 at Kettle Falls on Saturday, North no. 3 will oppose St. Michaels at 1:45 p.m. in the high school gym.  Winner is no. 5 to District and the loser is out. 
In boy’s game no. 4, the loser of game no. 1 will play the loser of game no. 2 in the middle school gym at noon.  The winner is no. 3 seed to District.  The loser is no. 4 to District.
In girl’s game no. 4, the loser of game no. 1 will oppose the loser of game no. 2 in the middle school gym at 1:45 p.m.  The winner is no. 3 seeded to District and the loser is no. 4 seed.
In boy’s game no. 5, the league championship will pit the winner of game no. 1 vs. the winner of game no. 2 at 3:30 p.m. in the middle school gym.  The winner is no. 1 to District and the loser gets the second seed.
In the championship game for the girls, the game one and two winners will square off at 5 p.m. in the middle school gym.
