Brother and sister Andrew and Larissa Sweat count tree rings at the Rafter-Seven Ranch tree farm booth during the Earth Day Fair last Saturday. Riet Westphal of Cusick was also on hand with fellow fiber artists to give spinning demonstrations. The event took place at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Chewelah and featured over 40 vendors. Free seeds and trees were also given out to the public. “It’s an attempt to try to get people into gardening and living green, but it’s mostly about bringing people together,” said Pastor Ed Pace. “This year went great, but we’re hoping next year will be bigger and better.” Photos by Sophia Aldous.
