Donât touch that dial---Chewelah Community Radio is on the air with all the news and music thatâs fit to grace radio waves. The non-profit station, call sign KCHW 102.7, has a lot on its roster. It recently moved to a new location at the 3rd Street Mall and is currently looking for volunteers and donors.
Founded by husband and wife team Scott and Schelley Schlafman , the station sports everything from local and international news to music one wonât always hear when listening to typical corporate- owned radio. The tunes range from Rock nâ Roll, Alternative, Country, Pop and even an upcoming Punk Rock music program.
âOur motto is, âListener supported, volunteer powered and community driven,ââ says Schelley. âWe try to encourage fun, informative and diverse programming. This isnât your every day radio station.â
