Wilburn Pierce Conklin, Jr. (Wil) went to be with our Lord on August 18, 2012 at the age of 77. He was born the son of Wilburn (Bill) and Jessie (Ingham) Conklin on June 17, 1935 in Ozona, Texas. Wil was educated in Ozona, Texas and graduated from high school in 1953. After high school, he attended the University of Texas for a short while before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps serving his country for five years. In that time, he married and had three sons; Lynden Brett, Patrick Owen, and Michael Page.
Wil joined the United States Border Patrol in November of 1962 and retired in June of 1985. In 1976, he married Janet M. Lotze of Kettle Falls. Together they had two sons; Joseph Charles and Wilburn Pierce III.
In 1986, Wil became the Stevens County Under sheriff serving with Richard Andres for nine years and retired again in 1995.
Wil was preceded in death by his parents, brother Carl and sister Nonie. He is survived by his loving wife Janet, sons Lynden Brett and wife Heather, Patrick Owen and wife Bonnie, Michael Page and wife Debbie, Joseph Charles, and Wilburn Pierce III and his wife Annamarie; Brother Ben Conklin, twelve grandchildren, three great grandchildren, two special daughters, numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends.
A memorial service for Mr. Conklin will be at 11 a.m. On Friday, August 24 at the Colville Community Church with Pastor Delmar Barrans presiding. A potluck luncheon will immediately follow the service. For those willing to contribute to the potluck, the church will be receiving food at 9 a.m. on August 24.
