One of the Colville valley’s biggest weekends of the year is right around the corner.
Pro-West circuit cowboys will be in Colville Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Northeast Washington Fairgrounds rodeo arena for what promises to be one of the best rodeos ever to kick up its heels in northeast Washington.
The three-day show will start on Friday night in the arena when the Carter Toyota Tundra Bulls & Barrels show gets the weekend off on the right cowboy boot.  The show starts at 7 p.m.
Scott Carter and the gang at Carter Toyota in Colville have given the old “Bull-A-Rama” a big boost in added purse money ($2,5000 for the Bull Bash and $500 for the barrel racers).
On Saturday morning at 11 a.m., the annual Rodeo Parade will make its way up Main Street.  The Pro-West Rodeo Parade will be led this year by Grand Marshall’s Bill and Becky Bacon of Kettle Falls.
Line-up for this year’s parade will be at the Colville Municipal Swimming Pool parking lot.
The parade route calls for entries to enter Main Street at Dominion, proceed north on Main to Second, then head east to Oak Street.  The parade will travel south on Oak Street and disband back at the park.
If you’d like to enter the parade, call Mike or Jolene Cas¬satt at 684-5153.

Boost in the purse

The two Pro-West shows at the fairgrounds Saturday night and Father’s Day Sunday afternoon have also gotten a big boost in prize money.  Sponsors of the $1,000 added purse include Clark’s All-Sports, Booth & LaDuke Superstore, Flying W Tractor, Columbia Cedar, Fogle Pump, Novus, Tripp Distributing and Steven Johnson Concrete Pumping.
The first Pro-West show will start at 7 p.m. on Saturday night with the traditional Grand Entry.
The show on Sunday will start at 1:30 p.m.
This year’s rodeo weekend will also bring with it 2006 Pro-West Clown & Barrelman of the Year, J.J. Harrison.  In the announcers’ booth will be 2006 Pro-West Announcer of the Year, Al Parsons.  The 2006 Pro-West Bullfighter of the Year will also be in the arena this weekend.
This year’s rodeo contractor will be Layton/McMillan Rodeos.
Outside the arena, the annual Cowboy’s Breakfast will be served at the Eagle’s Lodge from 8 a.m. to noon on Sunday.
The annual church service on the rodeo grounds will start at 8 a.m. on Sunday.
If that wasn’t enough, the Colville Pro-West Rodeo Committee has also held the line on admission prices to this year’s Bull Bash and rodeo shows.  Weekend advanced tickets are priced at $25.  Age 12 and under is $10 and children six and under get in free.
Daily tickets are priced at $10 for adults and  $4 for youngsters 12 and under.  Age six and under get in free.
At Sunday’s show, senior’s age 65 and older will get in for half price.  Canadian currency is also at par on Sunday.
