NORTHPORT—The Northport Lions Club, with assistance from the American Legion Auxiliary, will host afternoon Bingo in the Northport High School gymnasium Sunday, Oct. 4. Doors open at noon. Games start at 1 p.m.

Ciderfest is Saturday

The annual celebration will be Saturday, Oct. 3 from 8 a.m. to 1 a.m. the following morning. A pancake breakfast kicks the day off at 8 a.m., followed by the parade at 10:30 a.m.
There will be food and craft vendors, live music, beer garden, and a kids’ carnival throughout the town’s nine-acre park adjacent to Highway 25. The star attraction, of course, is the Ciderclops, a massive cider press built by the late Dennis Jensen. The giant press scoops, crushes and transports hundreds of pounds of apples for cider each year.

Chewelah man dies from arrow wound

ADDY—A Chewelah man died on Sept. 28 after being shot with a bow and arrow.
According to the Stevens County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a report of a person shot with an arrow at a residence in the 1300 block of Highway 395 South in Addy.
Deputies arrived on scene the afternoon of Sept. 28 within minutes to find 46-year-old Brian Brodie of Chewelah bleeding heavily from an apparent wound from an arrow, according to Sgt. Brad Manke of the Stevens County Sheriff’s Office.
