Help fill the trailer this Saturday

COLVILLE--American Legion Riders will be at Colville Wal-Mart Saturday, Dec. 20 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. collecting food for the Colville Food and Resource Center.
Some of the items needed are brown and white rice, peanut butter, canned and fresh produce (i.e. celery, onions, canned corn), canned meats, shelf stable milk, baking goods (flour, cake mixes) and hams for Christmas dinner. Cash donations will also be accepted so that the food bank can buy what is needed.

CHS graduate premieres films at Alpine tonight

Three short films will premiere at Alpine Theater in Colville Thursday, Dec. 18 at 7 p.m. The films are made by Hraefn Wulfson (Dylan Martens), a 1986 Colville High School graduate who began his film career in 1997 as an Art Department Assistant for The Postman filmed in and around Metaline Falls.

Levy failure causes hour cutbacks at libraries

COLVILLE--The Libraries of Stevens County will be eliminating Saturday hours at the Kettle Falls, Colville, Chewelah, Loon Lake, and Lakeside libraries starting January, 2015. After the recent levy failure, library staff and library board members met to finalize a budget for 2015. Over the course of the fall, there had been a hiring freeze when two employees left the library to take other jobs. A total of 60 staff hours were left vacated.

Here is a list of upcoming events from the Colville Chamber of Commerce. Chamber luncheons are Tuesdays at noon at the Colville Eagle's Lodge and are open to the public.

Dec. 19: Community Christmas Party at the Ag and Trade Center from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Dinner with Catering To You with Lori Roberts; music with Mountain Melodies; dance with Jukebox Review; $15 per person. For tickets call 684-2585. (Proceeds to go to fund the fireworks and Rendezvous.)
