Persha “Cookie” Faye Hill, a lifetime resident of Northeast Washington, passed away on June 11, 2011 in Colville. Cookie was born on Jan. 21, 1953 in Colville, the daughter of Robert and Geneva (Montgomery) Coleman.
Cookie was raised and attended school in Northport and was a graduate of Northport High School. On Jan. 2, 1981, she married Joe Hill. Together they moved to coast of Washington where they raised two sons, Joe and Sam. Cookie loved her role as a mother and took great pride in her boys. She also opened her home to several kids who were down on their luck and always offered a helping hand to others in need. Cookie had recently moved to Colville to be near her ailing mother. Cookie was managing the North Hill Apartments and had developed a wonderful relationship with her tenants.
Cookie will be remembered for her wonderful character and infectious laugh. She had a golden heart which she shared with all people, especially children. Cookie loved to watch the joy in a child’s eyes and inspired many smiles with her candy jar that was available to the neighborhood children. She touched the lives of many people and she will be dearly missed. Those close to her left her with these words, “Goodbye sweet angel, we will see you in time. God be with you until we meet again.”
Cookie is survived by her husband, Joe Hill, Seattle; her sons, Joe and Sam Hill, Seattle; her mother, Geneva Kenerson Coleman; brother, Allen Coleman; sister, Linda Hunt; several nieces and nephews.
