Berneice Iona Worth, a former resident of Kettle Falls, passed away on June 28, 2011 in Spokane at the age of 84. She was born on July 14, 1926 in Beiseker, Alberta, Canada, the daughter of Joseph and Emma (Meckler) Fleck.
Berneice was raised in Canada, where she attended high school and college until moving to Loma Linda, CA. She graduated from Loma Linda University, where she obtained her degree as a Registered Nurse. She worked in hospitals and home health care most of her life. Berneice lived for many years in Walla Walla and was married to John L. Worth on March 10, 1968 in College Place. Berneice retired in 1988 and moved to Kettle Falls.
Berneice was very active in the Seventh-day Adventist Church and served as choir director for many years. She also loved to sing and play the piano whenever she was able. Berneice had a “Green Thumb” and loved caring for her beautiful yard and garden.
Berneice was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Worth, on July 4, 2001 and by her brother, Joe Fleck of Alberta, Canada.
She is survived by her daughters, Colleen Wiedman (husband Steve) of Spokane; and Dr. Barbara Winslow, San Rafael, CA; her sons, Dr. Dwight Winslow (wife Janice), Smith River, CA and John Worth, Spokane; her brothers, Llewellyn “Lou” Fleck (wife Marlene), Lacombe, Alberta, Canada, and Algram Fleck (wife Patsy), Republic; her four grandchildren, Jill, Kristen, Patrick and Karly; and two great-grand-daughters, Hailey and Alexis.
The funeral service for Berneice Worth was held July 2 at the Danekas Funeral Chapel in Colville. The graveside service was held at the Mountain View Park Cemetery in Colville.
The Danekas Funeral Chapel and Crematory was entrusted with arrangements.
