Born August 11, 1923 in Redwood Falls, Minnesota, Elton Earl Tetrick graduated from Lamberton High School, Minnesota. After high school, Elton enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Korea in the 52nd Signal Group. After serving in the Army, Elton attended Dunwoody Industrial Institute and graduated with a degree in Mechanical Drafting. He then went to work for Kato engineering as a machine designer, and then went on to work as a tool designer in Minneapolis.
He taught night school at St. Paul Vocational School, as well as teaching at Stout University in Wisconsin. Elton also lectured on tool design at other various schools in the surrounding area. After teaching, he accepted a position with Univac in St. Paul, Minnesota and was transferred to Salt Lake City, Utah, where he stayed with Univan, then called Unysis Corporation, for 24 years until his retirement. During his career, Elton received two U.S. Patents for keyboard innovations still used today.
Elton married Elaine Krueger at Grace Lutheran Church in Manakato, Minnesota. God blessed them with six children, John and Jerry (both deceased), June Fitzgerald of Utah; Elton Earl Tetrick, Jr. of Utah; Judith Elaine Steinau of Utah, and Jeff Tet¬rick of Colville.
Elton was a confirmed member of St. Paul Minnesota Lutheran Church, and taught Sunday school at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Bloomington, Minnesota. He read his Bible faithfully. His favorite passage was Psalm 23; his favorite hymn was “Just as I am”.
Elton enjoyed fishing, rock collecting, wood carving (he carved an exact working replica of the Loof Carrousel in Riverfront Park that is now on display at the Kettle Falls Historical Center), and mechanical design.
Mr. Tetrick was preceded in death by his father, Dale Tetrick; by his mother, Gleva Tetrick; by brothers Darlo, John, Robert, and by sisters Ila and Shirley all of Lambedrton, Minnesota.
Elton was buried with full military honors at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery in Medical Lake on August 5.
Honorary casket bearers were Sabrina Tetrick (John’s daughter), Nathaniel Adam (Jerry’s son), Mack and Sam Fitzgerald (June’s sons), Joshua and Jacob Tetrick (Elton Jr.’s sons), and Benjamin Cote (Judy’s son).
We love you Dad. We will take comfort in knowing that you are now home with the Lord.
