Rare is the hole in one. A feat even more eye-popping is a husband and wife recording holes in one a week apart—on the same hole. But that’s what Sarah and Bob Cleaver (pictured) did earlier this month on the par 3 16th hole at Dominion Meadows Golf Course. Bob, playing with Sarah at the time, aced the 142-yard 16th hole on Sept. 8. Cleaver’s nine-iron hit just right of the pin and spun into the cup. The city of Colville Building Inspector, who has holes in one on the second and ninth holes at DM, said his latest ace from the elevated tee on no. 16 was the first time he’s actually seen one of his tee shots go in. Not to be one-upped, and probably weary of hearing too much “I’m three holes in one up on you, dear (or something like that),” wife Sarah recorded her first hole in one last Thursday playing with Bob and friends, Diane and Kurt Pikarsky. Sarah “Bam-Bam” Cleaver used a nine-iron from about 100 yards out. Her tee shot hit about six inches from the hole and wedged between the rim of the cup and pin. In that foursome, only Diane Pikarsky has yet to experience the nirvana of being both lucky and good at the same time…and the chance to buy a round of adult beverages in the clubhouse afterwards. Yes, get a hole in one, and the golfer pays. Chris Cowbrough photo.
