Cora Dorayne Clinkenbeard (“Dory”) will be remembered by family and friends as a woman who loved and cared for her family and friends.
Dory, 69, of Colville, was called home to Jesus suddenly and unexpectedly on Dec.5, 2011.
Dory was born in Kalispell, Montana on Sept.22, 1942 to the late John and Cora Christensen. She was a 1960 graduate of Troy High School in Troy, Montana. Shortly after graduation, she met her future husband (Jack) at an interview for the National Forest Service. Reflecting on this, Jack says, “I hired her to be a secretary and she ended up being MY boss!” Jack and Dory not only worked together, but also was his best friend until the day she passed away.
Dory and Jack moved to Colville in 1967, where they raised their four daughters and, at times, their grandchildren, as well as a few children who were “adopted” into the family. Dory welcomed all with open arms and lots of love to share.
Dory was a grandmother, mother, secret-keeper, and best friend to most everyone she came in contact with. Dory was a “people person” who loved to talk to anyone, anywhere! She was very active and involved with her children and grandchildren. Dory was most proud of her beloved grandchildren; she indulged them with most anything they wanted.
Dory enjoyed life and loved to entertain, and she worked tirelessly to please everyone. She served with the Sweet Adelines Choir for approximately eight years. She worked with Meals on Wheels program. Dory was employed with the Colville School District as a secretary for many years, and then went on to continue her work as a secretary for Maurice Williamson Consulting Forestry and then with the family home appraisal business. She will be missed greatly by everyone who knew her.
She is survived by her loving husband, Jack; her adored daughters, Gaye Anne Gill and husband Glen Gill; Jacqueline Bircher, Lisa Leake and husband Terry Leake; Lori Keever; her beloved grandchildren, Megan Bushnell, Ryan Bushnell, Baileigh Leake, Brie Zier and husband Chris Zier, Tyler Henderson, Mitchell Hammons and wife Elizabeth Hammons and infant daughter Lorelai, Dereka Hammons, Amber Young and her husband, Justin Young; and other very important family members, including Shelbie McKern, Brett Manzanares, Kelly Bircher, Caleb Story, John and Amy Ferguson, Shane and Bonnie Acorn and sons Nick and Luke Acorn, Maurice and Donna Williamson, Marcia Gruber, Mary Pat Gilson, Jessie Lowe, Norma Dunn.
