Eugene Alexander Erickson, age 74, passed away on April 28, 2012. He was born on Nov. 7, 1937, the son of Rudolph and Mary (Ditchfield) Erickson in Saskatchewan, Canada.
Eugene moved to the United States when he was very young. He lived in the Tacoma and Vashon Island areas, where he at¬tended school until moving to France with his family, where he graduated from high school. Upon completion of high school, Gene moved back to the United States and attended college.
Other than his wife and family, his two passions in life were music and sailing. He loved to play his guitar, and had been in numerous bands since childhood, including one called “The Vikings”. When not entertaining guests by playing his guitar, Gene could be most likely found on one of the many boats he owned over the years--everything ranging from a 27-foot sailboat down to his rubber raft. It didn’t matter much to him what kind of boat it was, as long as he was out on the water.
Gene served in the United States Army as a medic. He was very patriotic. Not only did he have a love for his country, but a love for mankind. He was a very compassionate man, and was always reaching out to others.
Gene is survived by his wife, Delores, Kettle Falls; daughter Jeannette Stefanik, husband Eric, and their children Jayden, Noel, Grant, and Lilah, Everett; son, Daniel Erickson and fian¬cée Kimala Miller, Monroe; grandson, Bryan Erickson and wife Torie, Marysville; sister, Shirley Bullock and husband Bob, Cove, OR; and brother, Don Middling and wife Terrie, Spanaway.
Funeral service for Mr. Erickson will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 12 at the Kettle Falls Community Church.
