Clark’s All-Sports owner and founder Ray Clark figured that it made perfect sense to expand on a business that has been selling boats across the country for several years now.
When John’s Marine Service owner John Monette decided that it was time to retire, or semi-retire, he decided to sell his well-established business across Highway 20 from the Colville Municipal Airport (192 DeGrief Road) to Clark earlier this year.
Clark’s Marine & Motor Sports is in the process of expanding its showroom and service offerings.
“It made sense,” Clark said last week. “We have been in partnership with John for 15 years with Hewescraft boats and Yamaha motors…we’ve worked together on that for years. That’s why this was such a natural transition.”
Clark is effusive in his praise for Monette, a familiar face to boaters and motor sports’ enthusiasts over the years (see related story).
“John is just a wonderful guy,” Clark said, alluding to Monette, who plans to stay on and help with the transition. “We have always had an outstanding relationship with John over the years.
“John’s knowledge base is just invaluable. His honesty and integrity are unsurpassed and he has built a very faithful clientele over the years.”
Under the leadership of Gary Clark, who heads up Clark’s All-Sports’ marine division, that end of the business continues to expand—across the country.
“Continuing to expand our marine is a primary motivation here,” Clark said of the move to purchase John’s Marine Service.
New manager of Clark’s Marine & Motor Sports is Jim Martin. Kevin Ratel has been added to the five-man staff as a mechanic.
Clark said that Clark’s Marine & Motor Sports has built in added security for boats on site and “we are working hard on a fast turnaround time for the boats we are working on…we’re working hard to get them in and out.”
Clark’s Marine & Motor Sports is also emphasizing work on trailers of all kinds—from brake work to wiring for boat trailers, RV and Fifth Wheels and horse trailers.
In addition to that new department, Clark’s Marine & Motor Sports will soon add an entire new retail floor to the facility on DeGrief Road. The 3,500 square foot retail floor, which will be completed sometime later this summer, will provide additional space for the display of soft goods, four-wheelers and snowmobiles.
The business is open from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.
