David Wilson Easton Jr., 85, passed peacefully at Clare Bridge in Olympia, on July 7, 2012 after a brave battle with Parkinson's disease. He was born February 21, 1927, the first of four children born to David and Emma Easton of Beulah, North Dakota.
David mastered the piano in high school, playing for the choir and at social events. He joined the Army during WWII and was stationed at Fort Lewis, where he met and married his wife, Dee (Kaufman) Easton. They lived for 38 years in the Seattle area where David found his calling in the wholesale business. He was an excellent salesman and did well at the James Stack Co. David was known in sales circles for telling stories, playing practical jokes and setting off fireworks. He then worked for and retired from H & H Distributing as vice-president of sales and marketing of Sony electronics in 1984.
David enjoyed traveling and he and Dee made good use of their motor home, circling the continental United States, with a side trip to Alaska. Summers were spent at the Little Pend Orielle Lakes in their log house on Lake Thomas, a traditional family vacation place. David water skied into his 70's, liked to pull others on skis and took his boat to the coast for salmon fishing. He was always busy, using his tractor, riding his quad and playing his cherished piano. David had a great love for music and as an accomplished pianist he enjoyed playing for Dee, his family and friends. He continued to play the piano until the end.
David is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dee (Kaufman) Easton and their three children; David W. Easton III of Clallam Bay, Deborah Grulke of Rochester and DeAnn Easton of Wilkdson; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; brother Donald Easton of Billings, MT; sister Marilyn (Easton) Swanson of Bismark, ND; and brother Richard Easton of Nashua, NH. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. David Wilson Easton will be missed.
There will be a Celebration of Life on August 19 at Kenneydell Park in Olympia. Contributions in memory of David can be made to the NORTHWEST PARKINSON'S FOUNDATION at 400 Mercer St. #504, Seattle, WA 98109 or online at www.nwpf.org .
