William Allan “Bill” Lotze, a lifetime resident of the Colville area, passed away on May 1, 2013 in Colville. Bill was born on October 11, 1931 in Colville, the son of Harry and Jesse (Welch) Lotze.
Bill graduated from Colville High School in 1949. After graduation he began his career in logging. Over the years Bill began purchasing equipment and eventually operated his own business. On October 4, 1979 he married Marie Crabtree in Colville. He continued in the timber industry until his retirement in November 1994.
Bill was a wonderful friend to all who knew him and spent time with them on a regular basis. He had his breakfast at Zips and his afternoon coffee at McDonalds. Bill and Marie were very active at the Eagles Lodge and he still met every Wednesday with his class of 49’ for lunch. Bill also enjoyed golfing and spent many hours on the green with the seniors group since his retirement. He was a great icon in the community and will be greatly missed.
Bill was preceded in death by his two brothers, Fred Lotze and Ted Lotze.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Lotze of Colville; daughters, Debbie Crabtree of Spokane, WA, Lisa Dutro of Maui, HI, Lora Baier of Redmond, WA; son, Merrit Crabtree and wife Cindy of Colville, WA; grandchildren, Gwynn Crabtree, Jana Crabtree, Madison Dutro, Mitchell Dutro, Brandon Baier, Keegan Baier.
A funeral service for Bill was held on Tuesday, May 7 at the Colville Community Church with the graveside service following at Mountain View Park Cemetery. Pastor Shane Moffitt from the Garden Valley Bible Church officiated.
The family wishes any contributions in memory of Bill be given to the Colville Eagles Lodge.
