After several years of dreaming and planning, low-income senior housing Colville is finally a reality. Located on Hudesman Lane on the north end of Colville, behind Subway and the Dollar Tree, Hudesman House will provide 13 one-bedroom units and one two-bedroom resident manager’s unit for the low-income elderly.
There will be an Open House celebration for the new building Friday, March 21 from noon to 2 p.m. Tours of the facility will be available after the ribbon cut¬ting ceremony at noon, followed by refreshments in the downstairs community area.
“This has been a long-time coming, and it’s neat to see that it has arrived and will contribute to offering affordable housing for our community’s seniors,” said Paul Wade, a member of the Hudesman House Apartments Board of Directors.
The total cost of the project is $3 million, with $2 million funded by HUD, $75,000 from Stevens County, and other funds coming from SEC Affordable Housing, State of Wash¬ington Housing Trust Fund and local community contributions.
Construction on the building began last summer. Subsidized by grant funding, no resident will pay more than 30 percent of their total income on rent and utilities.
