Mary Louise Wicks, a thirteen-year resident of Colville, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2014. Mary was born on July 25, 1938 to John and Valerie (Miskiness) Warmalts of Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Mary attended Lynnwood High School in Lynnwood, CA. While in high school she met Dale Wicks in 1952. The two of them dated until they wed on August 1, 1954 in Lynnwood. They started their family in 1955 when Allen Dale Wicks was born. In 1958 their son, Douglas Wicks, was born and in 1963 their son, Donald Wicks, was born.
The family lived in California until 1972, when they moved to Springfield, Missouri. In 1980 they moved their family back to California. After Dale’s retirement, they moved to Colville in 2003. Mary loved living in Stevens County and being a part of Colville’s community. Mary was a people person and would talk to any body that wanted to talk. She loved going to yard sales and collecting antiques. There was not a yard sale that Mary could pass without stopping to see what was for sale.
Mary loved the snow and the long winter days in the area, as she watched the snowflakes fall from her living room window in the comfort of her easy chair. She spent the last three months at home before her passing and during that time she was thankful for being able to come home to spend it with her family.
Mary is survived by husband, Dale; son Allen; mother, Valerie; sister Susie; brother, Sonny; daughter-in-law, Charlie Wicks; and nieces, Amy (Wicks) Glasgow, Velvet and Crystal.
She was preceded in death by father, John Warmalts and her sons, Donald and Douglas Wicks.
Per Mary’s wishes, a memorial service will not be held. Please visit the online memorial and sign the guestbook at www.danekasfuneralchapel.com .
Danekas Funeral Chapel has been entrusted with the arrangements.
