Colville rolls
over top-ranked Freeman

Sometimes final scores can be deceiving. So it went last Friday night in front of a packed house at Colville High School, where the ninth-ranked Indians dominated from the outset in a convincing 28-7 rout of top-ranked and defending State 1A champion Freeman.
The game wasn’t that close.
Colville (6-0) simply dominated the Scotties, who came in riding a 19-game winning streak. The only hiccup for the Indians was a 35-yard Freeman touchdown on the first play from scrimmage of the second half. That cut the CHS lead to 14-7.

In an early Northeast 1B football matchup between playoff contending teams, the Cusick Panthers rode an incredible 50-point opening quarter to a 70-30 victory over the Selkirk Rangers last Friday night in Cusick.
Cusick head coach Sonny Finley was impressed with his team’s offensive explosion and school record.
“They came out and scored on us first, but we were able to put up 50 points and I was pretty impressed with our offensive output,” Finley said of the fast break onslaught.

Cougars lose two
key players
& game

Chewelah went into their Homecoming game against Riverside last Friday night looking for a Northeast A League victory. But injuries and inconsistent play by the hosts let the Rams pull away in the second half for a 34-6 road win over the struggling Cougars.
Chewelah found itself behind the eight ball before the game started after the loss of starting quarterback Blake Owens to a broken left (throwing) hand on Wednesday. Early in the game, Chewelah also lost Andrew Hansen to a rib injury.
