Kettle Falls’ softball team showed plenty of offensive punch during a busy four-game stretch last week, but the Bulldogs came away 1-3 against Lakeside and Northwest Christian to move to 3-10 on the season.

The Bulldogs dropped both games of a doubleheader against Lakeside on April 16, falling 12-1 and 16-1, before splitting with Northwest Christian on April 18 with a 19-9 loss and a 12-10 win.

In the opener against Lakeside, Kettle Falls managed three hits, with Lily Larsen, Audrey Morales, and Kara Ferguson each recording one. Morales scored the Bulldogs’ lone run.

Lakeside completed the sweep in the second game, pulling away for a 16-1 win. Heira Palumbo, Emily Davenport, and Keilana Rockwell each had hits for Kettle Falls, and Morales again scored the team’s only run. Palumbo drove in the Bulldogs’ lone RBI. Larsen, Jillian Subie, and Nat Corvino all saw time in the circle.

Kettle Falls’ bats came alive in Saturday’s first game against Northwest Christian, but the Bulldogs were unable to keep pace in a 19-9 loss. Larsen led the way by going 4-for-4 and scoring twice with two doubles, while former Northport player Persephonie Ste. Marie finished 3-for-5 with four RBIs. Morales and Palumbo added hits, Kendall Anderson doubled and scored twice, and Georgia Richartz drove in two runs. The Bulldogs piled up 10 hits in the loss.

Larsen pitched the first 4 and 2/3 innings, striking out five and allowing seven earned runs on 14 hits.

The Bulldogs broke through in the second game, rallying for a 12-10 win over Northwest Christian. Morales sparked the offense by scoring three runs, while Anderson went 1-for-3 with a hit-by-pitch and drove in a run. Brýa Fay had a double and an RBI, and Emily Davenport added a hit and an RBI. Kettle Falls scored four runs in the first inning, three in the second, and added five more in the sixth to secure the win.

Brooklyn Wilkin started in the circle and worked three innings before Subie came on in relief and helped close things out. Subie allowed just one hit and two runs over four innings while striking out four.
