Chewelah Track Sends Strong Group to District 6 Meet

The Chewelah coaching staff was also voted staff of the year.

Chewelah will be well represented with 23 athletes at the District 6 track and field meet at Whitworth University on Saturday, May 23, at 10 a.m., after a large group of athletes achieved specific marks to qualify across several events. On the girls side, Josie Carter qualified in the 1,600 and 3,200 meters races, while Elise Warren also qualified in both distance events. Diana Durham qualified in the 800 and 1,600. Rin Parsons qualified in the 100, 200, and 400 meters, as well as the 800 relay, while Marianne Thomason qualified in the 100, 200, and 800 relay. Morgan Dobson qualified in the 100 meters and 800 relay. Mei Parsons qualified in the 400 and 800 meters race. Liberty Whittekiend qualified in the 400, 800 relay, long jump, and triple jump, while Faith Knight qualified in the 800 relay, long jump, and triple jump. Jessika Davis qualified in the long jump. Anna Whittekiend qualified in the javelin and pole vault. On the boys side, Chewelah will have a strong distance group, with Emmitt Warren and Justice Whittekiend each qualifying in the 800, 1,600, and 3,200 meter races. Kyle Foster qualified in the 800 and 1,600. Frankie Sety qualified in four events: the 400 meters, javelin, high jump, and triple jump. AJ Kent also qualified in four events, advancing in the 100, 200, shot put, and pole vault. Meirahn Wafford-Nimmons qualified in the 110 hurdles, 300 hurdles and 400 relay. Titan Tapia qualified in the 400 meters, 400 relay, and triple jump. Kaedon Mendez qualified in the 200 meters and 400 relay, while Deon Richardson qualified in the 400 relay and pole vault. Josh Kasha also qualified in the 400 relay. Kyler Sobosky qualified in both throwing events, advancing in the shot put and discus. Daniel Jones qualified in the ambulatory 100 and javelin. Chewelah also earned several league honors. Rin Parsons was named the all-league award recipient for girls sprints, while Emmitt Warren received the boys distance allleague award. The Chewelah coaching staff was also voted staff of the year.
