Northeast 49ers AAA Move Back to .500

The Northeast AAA 49ers bounced back from a tough opener to take two of three games from the Kelly Brady Bagpipers AAA 18U team last week, moving to 4-4 on the Legion baseball season.

Northeast dropped the first game of the June 16 doubleheader, 12-5, despite collecting 10 hits. The 49ers trailed 3-0 after the first inning but answered with two runs in the second and two more in the fourth to tie things up.

Kelly Brady pulled away with three runs in the bottom of the fourth and a five-run sixth inning. Gus Schatz led Northeast in the opener, going 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. Luke Bateman was 2-for-3, while Colton Hansen, Miles Krausz, Jet Bateman, Kyle Bradfield, Cody Adams, and Jace Lovato each added a hit. Hansen, Schatz, and Krausz each doubled.

The 49ers answered in a big way in the second game, rolling to a 17-1 win in five innings. Northeast scored four runs in the first inning, five in the second, and six more in the fourth, while finishing with 14 hits. Luke Bateman went 3-for4 with two doubles and four RBIs, while Hansen went 3-for-4 with two doubles, three RBIs, and two runs scored. Jet Bateman scored three runs and drove in one along with two hits, while Schatz scored three times and knocked in two. Hansen had three hits, two doubles, and three RBIs. Grady Skok handled the work on the mound, allowing one run on five hits over five innings. He struck out seven and did not walk a batter.

Northeast kept the momentum going June 17 with a 9-0 shutout win over Kelly Brady. Bradfield threw a complete game, allowing just two hits while striking out 11 and walking two. Bradfield also led the offense, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, two runs, and an RBI. Krausz went 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Jet Bateman, Schatz, Luke Bateman, and Cody Adams each added a hit. The 49ers broke the game open with three runs in the fifth inning and four more in the sixth.
