Bill DeWitt

William “Bill” Ray DeWitt, a longtime resident of Stevens County, passed away on Nov. 9, 2013 in Colville at the age of 75. He is also known as Dad, Papa and Pops to many people whose lives he touched. Bill was born to William and Ruth (Benton) DeWitt in Buckeye, AZ on Sept. 22, 1938. Bill had a big heart for the lost and those in need. He was also known for helping others and giving them second chances in life. Bill’s hobbies included playing the guitar, singing, riding motorcycles, hunting and fishing and simply enjoyed the great outdoors. He also had a love for ministering to all the people around him. Bill had a way of reaching people to open up to him and listen to him teach the gospel. He also had a great fondness for mining for gold and collecting items that others might have seen as junk. Bill was a family man and loved spending time together with them. He spent the majority of his life working as a roofer and sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Bill loved his family and survived by, Linda DeWitt, Colville; nine children: Walter DeWitt and wife, Kathy, Tulsa, OK; Curtis DeWitt, Spokane; Gordy Siddons, Good Springs, NV; Billy DeWitt, Las Vegas, NV; Kenny DeWitt, of Bullhead City, AZ; Patrick McKnight and wife, Dee, Colville; Victoria Carpen¬ter and husband, David, Shan¬don, CA; Heather Keillor and husband, Tim, Las Vegas; and Jolynn Shelton and husband, Elisha,, Spokane, along with 26 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.A celebration of Bill’s life, followed by a potluck, will be held Saturday, Nov. 23 at 2 p.m. at the Stevens County Sheriff’s Ambulance Building (425 N.
