Candidate’s Night focuses on Legislative, county elections

Candidate’s Night before the general election will be held on Thursday, Oct. 13 at the Colville City Hall from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Candidates’ legislative and county elections are being invited to speak so that area residents can meet the candidates and ask questions. The event is sponsored by the Colville Branch of the American Association of University Women.

AAUW member Mary Selecky will moderate the forum.

Washington state has a mail-in ballot voting system and ballots will be mailed out mid-October. Be an informed voter and attend the forum. Candidates for State Representative Position 1 and Position 2; County Commissioner District 1 and District 3; County Treasurer; Superior Court Position 1 and Position 2; and Public Utility District 1 Commissioner District 1 have been invited to attend.

“Your vote counts and informed voters make a difference in federal, state and local government elections,” Selecky said. “This is an important forum where you can meet candidates and ask questions.”

Questions will be collected during the forum and candidates will be given an opportunity to respond to the questions.

AAUW President Katie Schuerman said that the American Association of University Women Colville Branch has been sponsoring candidate’s forums since the early 1980’s and looks forward to greeting the voting public and providing an opportunity to hear the candidate’s views on issues important to voters in Northeast Washington state.
