Career fair attracts crowd

The Colville Rotary Career Fair held last Wednesday and Thursday is the largest event the Community Colleges of Spokane Colville campus has hosted in their gym, with well over 200 participating community members, according to Rotarian and retired Colville High School teacher Ron Noble. Sixteen different school districts were invited to attend one of the three sessions. Rotarian Dean Hull said the idea for a career fair was brought on by the lack of student participation in Rotary’s vocational scholarship program. “We’ve struggled for years to get any students to apply for our vocational scholarships,” explained Hull. Rotary’s goal for this event was to make students and parents aware of these scholarships and career opportunities, both local and statewide. Photos by Katie Dunn.
